Bright and positive year

Kuala Lumpur, 24 January 2007 - Tey Por Yee, Managing Director and CEO Nextnation Communications, recently shared his outlook on 2007 with The Star, Malaysia's most widely-read English-language daily.

Outlook for products/services in 2007?  
I expect another record growth for the industry, both local and globally. We also anticipate that increasing mobile phone penetration, coupled with the advancement of handset and network technology, will drive growth particularly in markets where we now operate. Forecasts suggest that worldwide mobile multimedia is expected to grow to US$60bil by 2009, and already the demand for quality content and services exceeds supply.  

The critical success factor will be the ability to react quickly to the market and user needs.  

Hope for company growth and government support?  
Nextnation has consistently exceeded internal earnings projections, and I am looking at setting new highs and continued double-digit growth from both our local and overseas operations. I think the Government could do more in terms of recognising successful Malaysian companies, which are making waves locally and becoming strong global players, such as ourselves. It would be good to receive more support policy-wise and regulation-wise in what we’re trying to achieve.  

Personal ambitions and ambitions for the company?  
Nextnation is still really at the infancy stage in the industry, yet to make a real mark in the worlds of business and technology.  

We aim to become the leading mobile applications service provider in the Asia-Pacific region. In the next three to five years, we expect to generate 80% of our revenue from overseas investments.  

Wish list for this year?  
For business: Great opportunities to explore ever more markets, design and develop more cutting-edge technologies. 

For the Malaysian economy: Be conducive in providing more local IT development incentives, churn out more local talent and a bullish year for the industry and market.
