Ozura and Celcom launch mobile games for Aidilfitri festive season

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 22, 2005 - Ozura Mobile (subsidiary of Nextnation:MESDAQ), one of the Asia's pioneer developer of mobile games and Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad (Celcom), one of Malaysia’s leading telecommunication company today launch four mobile games for the upcoming Aidilfitri festive season.

The games - Balik Kampung, Buih-Buih, Pendekar and Angkasawan Melayu, all of which span multiple game genres, were specially developed by Ozura for Celcom and are available exclusively for Celcom's subscribers. Mobile gaming is a relatively new concept in Malaysia but a billion dollar industry in Japan and Korea. "In Japan and Korea, mobile gaming is a lifestyle whereby people play these games to fill the short free time available during the day such as commuting on public transport, waiting at the airport and even in the loo," quipped Norman H'ng, Vice President of Business Development, Ozura.

In Balik Kampung, based on the popular car-racing genre, gamers are required to reach their destination as soon as possible while navigating around road debris and traffic encountered during the game. "Although the objective of the game is to reach grandma's house in the fastest time possible, gamers are also required to observe the various speed limits during their journey, which is in line with the Government's initiatives to foster road safety," said H'ng.

Buih-buih is a puzzle game and it is well known in the industry that puzzle games is a proven genre which has been very popular and had entertained the masses for many years. H'ng added "Puzzle games are universally appealing as the learning curve is short but the addictiveness of the game is enduring. In fact, our best selling games have been puzzle games and we are confident that Buih-Buih will be a success".

Pendekar follows in the footsteps of traditional arcade fighting games which was made popular by the classic fighting games. "Malaysians can now boast of a Malaysian Character Fighting Game, set in era of Hang Tuah and uses Silat as the dominant martial art of the game. It is fun and gamers can spend hours using various characters while mastering each character's special moves. I have to admit that I had actually spent my free time playing Pendekar in the last few weeks and had gotten pretty good at it" joked H'ng.

Angkasawan Melayu is a shoot 'em up type game cast in the mold of Space Invaders and is expected to appeal to younger generations.

All these games are interactive, which enable gamers to upload their score to a centralized game server thus adding the element of competition amongst players to be the top gamer in the country. The interactive element of the game was made possible by the recent completion and deployment of Ozura's proprietary game engine, FunLogiX. The engine is both GPRS and 3G ready, supporting all major handsets such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
